Last summer, I had the pleasure of visiting New York for the second time in my life. However, instead of the usual week of tourist traps that I had visited previously, I spent the time getting to know the city. I don’t know what it was, but summer in New York was just…different. I guess summer is a time when you really feel free, and what better place to explore than New York?
I remember that month or so, I spent my mornings running through Central Park. And what a magnificent park that was. When I had last been here in the winter, everything felt cold and dead. I’m not referring to the flora and fauna, but even the people themselves felt closed off. Surprisingly, summer brought out the best in them. Central Park wasn’t just a place I could get my exercise out of the way, it was a playground for the New Yorkers to come out and explore.
Another thing that I found was the number of performers increased in the summer. People just got out more and did the thing they loved. I frequented jazz clubs, dance troupes, etc just because they seemed to be so full of life. At least more than before. I still had to work at my firm while I was there, but I always looked forward to stepping outside and taking in the liveliness of the city.
