The first time I went to New York City was for my ninth grade field trip to New York City, in May of 2005. We got to tour a few of the city’s most famous places. First we went to Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. I had my picture taken with a bunch of wax figure celebrities, such as Joe Namath. The wax models looked just like the real person—exact height and everything!
After that, we walked up the Empire State building. I didn’t realize how many flights of steps there were; luckily we were able to ride the elevator up for the most part. We ended up waiting for a few hours in lines until we were actually at the top of the building. It was breathtaking to look from the top and see the ground—people walking on the streets looked like ants. It was amazing to be that high up. Finally, we had a few hours left so we just walked around the town. It’s amazing how many people and taxis there are, and how everything is still organized and gets completed. They have signals for people walking across the street and it’s pretty impressive how organized everything is. All in all, it was a very memorable field trip.
