One of the best times I ever had in New York City was taking my daughter to see The Little Mermaid. The musical was her first Broadway experience. We started our father — daughter evening with dinner at Junior’s. She ordered a cheeseburger that was as big as her head. We shared a slice of Junior’s trademarked, famous cheesecake. It was delicious ! After gobbling it up we made our way over to the theater. She pointed out all of the bright lights and interesting sites that New York is so famous for. It was amazing to see the city I had grown up in through her little eyes. She noticed everything from the street vendors to the stores and restaurants. We were able to grab roasted honey almonds at a vendor. The crowds scared her at first but she quickly moved with the hustle and bustle of the city streets. We arrived at the theatre and were given buttons that read “My First Broadway show” with the Little Mermaid on them. We were seated and the show started a short time later. It was a simply magical experience and has become an annual tradition. Next year we will see Mary Poppins on Broadway!
