Fall becomes my transition period from summers on the beach and the constant vacations upstate, to sipping chai tea and eating more pie. It may just be me but Autumn in New York seems to go by very fast. The next thing I know, it’s winter.
I’ll usually go to Central Park at dusk and sit on the benches by the pond. I’ll smell the burnt leaves. Leaves don’t get any better or more beautiful than during Fall in the city. My food focus becomes pumpkin. Pumpkin pie and latte and seeds.

I contemplate the future more, perhaps I even get a mild case of seasonal depression. I stock up my on my Fall books. Don’t ask my why, but I seem to always read Stephen King novels in the Fall; I save my chick lit novels for spring.
I love mysteries in the Summer. Most importantly Fall introduces some of the best new Broadway and Off-Broadway plays in the city. New comedians and artists display their new work during the fall and I always like the explore them. It is definitely a welcome transition from the Shakespeare In the Park fun.
Lastly, I notice families more than summer. I think I observe people more because of the lack of daylight. My focus is more outward during the Fall as opposed to Summer and other seasons when my focus is inward.
